On January 21, 2008, the Institute for the Study of Civic Values will host “A PhillyBlocks Town Meeting: Making Philadelphia Safe” in conjunction with the signature Martin Luther King Day of Service Event at Germantown High School. This town meeting will showcase elected officials, experts on crime and re-entry in Philadelphia, as well as ex-offenders sharing their experiences. Beginning at 9:30am, speakers will discuss crime in Philadelphia and steps that are being taken to make Philadelphia safer in 2008. Throughout the event, organizations working to combat violence in Philadelphia and reduce crime will be participating in a resource fair located directly outside the auditorium. Pre-registration for this event is highly recommended as space is limited.
